Our family's money dashboard. It lives on our home server, so first your phone needs a private connection to it.

1 Join our network
Tap the button and sign in with your personal Google account (on iPhone you can also use Apple, and choose Share My Email). Not a work account, and don't pick "passkey". Then accept the invite.
When it says you've joined, come back to this page. If it offers to download the app, that's the next step here.

2 Get the Tailscale app
Tailscale is the free app that makes the private connection. It's safe, and it only connects you to our server.

3 Turn it on

jemptynasin the Tailscale app?Tailscale may have signed you into a network of your own. In the Tailscale app, tap your picture (top right) and check it's the same account you joined with in step 1. If you see more than one network, choose ours. Then look for

4 Open Hearth
With Tailscale switched on, tap to open Hearth and create your login.
You're connected ✓ Hearth is open in another tab: carry on there.
Hearth didn't open, so the connection isn't on yet.
Something not working?
- Tailscale must say Connected (switch it on in the app).
- Phones can run only one VPN at a time: if you use a work VPN, turn it off while you use Hearth.
- Android: if Hearth won't load, open Tailscale → Settings → turn Use Tailscale DNS off and on again; and in phone Settings → Network → Private DNS, choose Automatic.
- iPhone: if it loads only sometimes, turn off Limit IP Address Tracking for your Wi-Fi (Settings → Wi-Fi → ⓘ).
- Don't choose an "exit node" in Tailscale; it isn't needed.
